What is good spheroidization?
The spheroidization rate reaches 1-2 grades steadily,
and the lower the residual content of Mg and RE, the better.
Residual Mg characterizes spheroidization recession,
and the purpose of maintaining a minimum residual Mg content
is to ensure that spheroidization recession
does not occur before solidification.
The requirements for spheroidization grade vary
with product performance requirements.
If the tensile strength and elongation are emphasized,
as long as the performance is qualified,
even if the spheroidization rate is a little worse,
grade 3 or even 4 is acceptable.
If fatigue strength and impact toughness are required,
especially low temperature toughness is required,
the spheroidization rate must reach grade 1-2.
We have 4 goals to control spheroidization in production:
① Save nodulizer and reduce production cost.
② Reduce the tendency of white mouth
and reduce the tendency of shrinkage.
③ Prevent graphite distortion caused by excessive
Mg and RE residues.
④ Reduce spheroidizing slag.
