Rapid solidification refers to the solidification process in
which a high solidification front advancement rate is obtained
by using quenching technology or supercooling technology.
Compared with the general solidification process,
rapid solidification technology has great appeal in both process
and material, mainly in the following three aspects:
(1) Expand the solubility of the solute in the alloy,
resulting in the formation of supersaturated solid solution,
non-equilibrium crystal and amorphous, respectively.
(2) Homogenize and refine the microstructure of the alloy,
to a large extent eliminate the segregation phenomenon in metal products,
especially large-section products,
make them easier to heat treatment and process,
and extend the service life accordingly, even the original can only
be used for As-cast and unworkable metal products
become malleable or superplastic.
(3) Make metal products closer to the final shape or direct molding.
In this way, a lot of molding process costs can be saved,
such as reducing the amount of press processing, metal cutting,
and reducing the amount of returned metal.
