have better feeding properties,
are not prone to thermal cracking,
and are easy to obtain dense castings.
The alloys that are solidified layer by layer include gray cast iron,
low carbon steel, etc.
2. Alloys that belong to volume solidification include ductile iron,
high carbon steel, etc.
It is generally believed that the volume solidification alloys
have poor feeding properties and are prone to hot cracks,
making it difficult to obtain dense castings.
3. If the crystallization temperature range of the alloy is narrow,
or the temperature difference of the casting section is large,
and the width of the solidification area on the casting section is
between layer-by-layer solidification and volume solidification,
it belongs to the intermediate solidification mode.
